Following on from a management buyout earlier in 2024, the directors at QS Recruitment were able to realise a long standing goal by issuing shares to its staff.

Why it was important to introduce the company share scheme

The success of many businesses lies heavily in the performance of its staff.

The QS management team fully realise the relationship between a motivated workforce and high levels of productivity. There was also an acute awareness of the previous contributions that had been made by vital members of staff. Contributions which demonstrated their commitment to QS Recruitment and its goals.

Chairman, Alan Dickinson, explains, “we gave huge consideration as to how we could involve key members of the team in the ownership of the company. We didn’t want our colleagues to feel that they were part of our vision, we wanted them to know they are part of our vision”

You can gain more insight from Managing Director, Peter Gillespie, into the motivation behind the scheme in the Up Close article published by The Global Recruiter (page 19)

How does the scheme work

Unlike share schemes offered by many other companies, these shares were not promised on the conditions of hitting future targets. They were issued immediately to key members of staff, from Senior Recruitment Consultants upwards, to reward them for all their prior contributions.

Through the scheme, staff will share directly in the future success of the company in the form of dividend payouts and also benefit from any increases in the value of the company.

What does being given the shares mean to the staff

Maria – Branch Manager

“It’s highly motivating to be a shareholder and it only makes us want to do even better”

Alex – Branch Manager

“Having the share scheme in place means you are completely part of the company”

Kirk – Senior Recruitment Consultant

“Being a shareholder opens the door to potential financial growth, a voice in company decisions, and the satisfaction of contributing to a vision that aligns with my values”

What is the future of the company share scheme

Whilst the share scheme has immediately benefitted existing team members, the opportunity for future shareholders has also been considered.

Alan Dickinson, Chairman, “Shares have been set aside for new and existing team members who make themselves key to the success of QS Recruitment.”

For those looking to step up their career, not only is there a realistic opportunity to achieve shareholder status, but QS Recruitment can also offer a genuine ascent up the leadership ladder with no limit on how far you can go. This is supported by our organisational structure which allows for progression into Branch Manager roles without the usual need for relocation.

For anyone wanting to join the QS team, the future is most certainly bright!
